This is Yom Kippur in Jerusalem

A day of Atonement. A day of fasting and denying oneself so that our light will rise in the darkness. A day when the streets fall silent and noise is nonexistent except for birds singing and children laughing and riding their bikes up and down the streets. A day when you can turn cartwheels in the busiest intersections without fear. We even heard the crickets along our busy four lane last night. Today was a beautiful day. The sun shone to bless us. The spirit of YHWH wrapped around us like a cloak. This was Yom Kippur in Jerusalem.
